Uhmm, ah, except for the use of live ordinance. Here's the hump, LT; The dead guys usually gave the kids a break. Every fibre of your being yearns for something human and real in that shit-hole. Every soul justly yearns for good and right to win, even momentarily.<BR/><BR/>But, somewhere, nearby, there's a bad guy teaching a kid how to throw a grenade into the command hatch. Not just at you, but how to get close, unseen, where you stop regularly, and go for you. Not just your guys, but you. Could be Stack-on, one of his guys, or some bad guy lookin' for street.<BR/><BR/>Nothing personal, strictly business. But the kid will believe he's serving Gawd, ridding his homeland of a demon, and protecting his sisters from your abuse. It'll be crap, of course, except for the part about children, and live ordinance.<BR/><BR/>I've seen you get hard, change, adapt, go cold. You need that to survive. It's all good -- well not so good, but way better when breathing is included. It's the experience. It's what you went out for, and are now getting. It is a cup we (old vets) would never have offered it to another soul.<BR/><BR/>The great hope is; you'll probably live through this. The great fear is; you'll probably never get over this. Whether you call it a spiritual awakening, a bad trip, PTSD, or just something you did back then, it's yours for the rest of your life.<BR/><BR/>I hope you share it as eloquently as you have up to this present moment.
